Did you know?

Exercise physiology is used to treat 9 out of the 10 most prevalent chronic health conditions in Australia.

Common conditions we treat

  • Strength training for back pain or injury – prevention and treatment
  • Pre- and post-surgical prehabilitation / rehabilitation
  • Exercise for osteoporosis / improved bone density
  • Menopause-related pain, fatigue and muscle loss
  • Muscle, ligament and tendon issues
  • Occupational strength and resilience for return to work after injury or illness

“At 81, I aim to maintain my health, sports, fitness, fun and excitement.
“I began with Dominic after I had major heart surgery – a triple bypass at 78. Nine months after surgery and following 6 months training with Dominic twice a week, I surfed the big waves at Nazare (Portugal) as the oldest man ever to do so.  I checked in with my cardiologist first, of course. He said my arteries were clear and that I would have no trouble with them – I was more likely to drown!
“Today I continue to sail (single-handed) in the Laser Masters World Championship against 500 boats every year, I do a martial art, paddleboard in the surf, and swim.
“I attribute this principally to the bypass and Dominic’s work, which has specifically focussed on surfing, sailing and martial arts.”
Phil Eadie, 81

Supporting women through menopause and hormonal change

Exercise physiology programs can help women manage menopause and other hormonal changes by:

“I’ve struggled with ongoing tightness and discomfort in my lower back and hips, particularly since going through menopause. It was beginning to affect not just my mobility, but my overall quality of life.
Working with Dominic has made such a difference. He took the time to really understand what was going on and developed a personalised routine that feels manageable and sustainable. The exercises are simple but incredibly effective. I’ve noticed a real improvement in my flexibility and a significant reduction in pain.
I feel stronger, more supported, and much more confident in my body again. I’m so grateful for Dominic’s knowledge, care and thoughtful approach.”

Is this for you?

When another service may be more helpful
(at least initially)

Exercise Physiology is most useful for long-term rehabilitation and health management.
If you require acute injury treatment, immediate post-surgical care, a diagnosis for a new health condition / injury or general weight loss in the absence of a clinical condition (e.g. diabetes, PCOS), then you may be best visiting a different medical or allied health professional as your first step.
If you’re unsure whether exercise physiology is the right service for your situation, feel free to get in touch — we are happy to help guide you.

What happens next?

  • Prior to your initial appointment, you will be asked for some background about you and your health status.
  • Your initial appointment begins with a thorough discussion of health history.
  • Next is a clinical assessment. This may include strength, fitness, balance or mobility testing, and blood pressure tests.
  • Your EP will develop an individual, evidence-based exercise plan tailored to your goals. This will include supervised sessions and self-management.
  • Note that your EP takes a holistic view of your condition and may recommend follow-ups with your GP or other medical and allied health services.
  • Your EP can advise strategies to help with motivation, task management, exercise adherence, and help you better understand your condition and its treatment.
  • Your EP will regularly reassess you.
